Question: How do I find my perfect lipstick shade? Answer: Avon’s online Virtual Makeover Tool. Yes, that’s what I said — You can try on lipstick right from your computer or phone! No need to go to a makeup counter, or have tons of lipstick shades in front of you to wipe off and try on another. Avon now has an online Virtual Makeover Tool for that! And it looks very real. Here I am giving it a try:
I tried on all kinds of lipstick shades. And I did so over lipstick I was already wearing. I posted a blog a few days ago with me trying the new Virtual Makeover Tool not wearing any lipstick or eyeshadow, and it worked very well. This time I thought I’d give it a try wearing full makeup.
The lipstick Makeover Tool worked very well except for lighter shades – that’s because I was already wearing Dragonfruit lipstick, so overall I think it did a great job in covering up the shade I was already wearing and replacing it with the virtual lipstick colors. What do you think?

Now, for the eyeshadow, I would definitely recommend not wearing any or at least very light eyeshadow when trying them on virtually. The only one that would work over my very dark eyeshadow that I already had on was the bright blue. And of course to find your perfect foundation or eyebrow pencil shade, definitely go all natural.
The online Virtual Makeover Tool is really easy to use. Here’s what you do:
- Follow this link. This will take you to my Avon website’s page titled: Get a Virtual Make Over.
- Choose which makeup item you’d like to try on. There are products for your lips, eyes, and face.
- Click on the product to bring it up. Then click the button that says “Try it On”.
- Once you do that, you’ll have to give permission for it to use your computer or phone’s camera.
- A live video of you will come up – It’s so fun!
- Click on the color/shade of your chosen product that you’d like to try on.
- The camera will find the spot where the product needs to go and you will see the product color right there on your gorgeous face in real time.
- You can take a picture of yourself wearing a particular shade (like I did). There is a little camera icon on the screen with you when you’re live trying on the makeup colors. Click that. It will show you a countdown 3-2-1 and then take your picture. Make sure to click the “Download” button right next to the camera icon to save it to your phone.
- You can take a picture of yourself in every shade that you want to and compare and see which are your favorites.
- You can share your pics on IG using the Hashtag #jfaysbeautyblog for a chance to be featured here on Jfay’s Beauty Blog.
