You know, as you’re going out during this holiday season, there’s bound to be some sneezing or nose-blowing going on. I know.. that’s not a very glamorous subject to speak about, but hey, it happens to all of us, and this did happen to me as I was getting ready. I had just applied my makeup, and yep, a sneezing fit hit. With our Texas temperatures roller-coasting from the 80’s to the 40’s and back and forth, my sinuses do not know what’s up most of the time. 🙂 But anyway, this had me reaching for my Cashmere Compact Powder Foundation for a much needed red nose touch-up. I am in love… I’ve been a huge eyeliner fan and wearer since I was 16 years old. That’s 40 years of eyeliner love.

I normally wear a pencil eyeliner since I always like to line my inner waterline. But, when I saw this eyeliner demo’d during an Avon Live Shopping Event and saw how awesome it is, and found out that it is safe to use on the waterline, I knew this was calling my name.

As you can can from the picture above, this eyeliner wand has two ends. One end is the cream eyeliner, and the other end is a smudger.

This is so handy!

This eyeliner goes on very easily, but it’s not overly soft, which is awesome because it is not smearing as it’s being applied. It stays put, but it is pliable for a few minutes before it fully sets so that you can use the little smudger to create a lighter smear or a smokey eye look.

As you can see from my pics, I did use this on my waterline. It went on great and stayed bold and in place on my waterline for much longer than my usual eyeliner.

One thing that I was wondering as I was trying this out, is if my eyes would dry out with the 24 HR waterproof eyeliner on my waterline? Well, they did not. My eyes felt just fine, so that’s great. I’ll definitely be wearing this eyeliner from now on.

And great news, it does wash off with soap and water. You may also like to try Avon’s waterproof makeup remover as well.

For this segment, Part 3, I will show you what I use to give my face a radiantly youthful glow. And, since all of Avon’s makeup will be hugely discounted (up to 50% off) in their Annual Makeup Sale (C.22, beginning Sept. 29th), I thought I’d show you all the products I use to complete my look.

The first thing I always do after applying my foundation, is the brows.

Avon’s new Tattoo Station Proof Brow Pencil is my favorite go-to, must-have pencil for my eyebrows. It goes on so easily and has a light touch. It is a cream-to-powder pencil so it does not create harsh pencil lines. You can see how it beautifully fills in my brows. I am always truly amazed at the transformation I can easily and quickly achieve using this Tattoo Station Brow Pencil. And bonus, it’s waterproof. I was at my hair stylist just a while back and she accidently splashed a little water on my forehead area. I was momentarily concerned about my brows washing off – haha!, but alas, they were just fine. So, yeah, waterproof, thank goodness. This brow pencil is listed for $7.00 in my Avon store. You can see that I love a dramatic eye, so I’m definitely loving Avon’s new Glimmer Eyeshadow Quads. I own 4 of them now. The one I’m demonstrating for this look is called Vixen. It has a glimmery silver, a couple of glimmery steel grays, and a dark gray. I did a demo of this eyeshadow palette just a while back using mainly the bluish-gray tones, but this time I only used the silver and dark gray, so I’ve been able to achieve 2 different eyeshadow looks from this one palette already. Earlier this week I used the Vixen palette plus a shimmery gold from the Goddess palette for this Fall look. Navy is on trend for Fall this year. So excited for that.

Before and After Makeover: Flawless Skin Makeup Look Part 2: Skincare Before Makeup Application

Rice Water Bright Facial Cleanser and Isa Knox Anew Collagen Booster from Avon for satin smooth skin. — Your Skincare Before Makeup Application is Very Important to Your Finished Look

Foundation makeup is one thing, but our actual foundation begins with our skin. Beautiful skin is deeper than the surface level. Real beauty starts with how we nourish our skin. Adding fresh fruits, veggies, and of course water to our diet is always a great idea (You know, what I call pretty food!). Getting good beauty sleep is also fabulous for skin (and those gorgeous eyes), but today we’ll focus on pampering and prepping our outer skin before applying makeup.

Cleansing our skin properly is one of the most important basic steps. It really does matter what product(s) we choose to cleanse with. We want to pamper our skin with moisturizing products that are soft and gentle, and help our skin look and feel it’s very best. There are 2 Avon facial cleansers that I adore and use every day. They are both Rice Water Bright Cleansers. One is Rice Water Bright Foaming Cleanser, and the other is Rice Water Bright Rice Bran Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser. These are super luxurious. Here are Avon’s brief descriptions for both:

Rice water, the milky white water obtained from rinsing rice, is enriched with vitamins A, B and E, ceramide and minerals to help skin feel moisturized and look radiant. Our foaming cleanser produces a whipped cream-like texture that softly glides onto the skin to effectively remove makeup residue while moisturizing

Step up your skin care routine with this daily facial scrub, made with organic rice bran powder, rice bran oil and hydrated silica for gentle exfoliation. Removes impurities and helps skin feel soft and look fresh and radiant.

I keep my Rice Water Bright Foaming Cleanser on my bathroom sink to use every morning. I keep the Rice Water Bright Rice Bran Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser in my shower to use in the evenings. The gentle exfoliating is great for removing makeup and impurities from the day. The Rice Water Bright Foaming Cleanser is perfect for gently cleansing and pampering my face in prep for makeup application.

Now, when I desire a deeper exfoliation for satin smooth skin, I always use Isa Knox Anew Collagen Booster Microneedling Polisher. I know that may sound scary, but it is just a denser exfoliating formulation, and honestly, my skin feels soooo soft after using this, it is truly remarkable. I know my makeup is going to go on beautifully when my skin is super smooth. I follow my Polisher with an Isa Knox Collagen Booster Rejuvenating Serum Ampule. These are incredible, and feel like soft velvet going onto my skin. It’s an absolutely beautiful sensation, and my skin feels absolutely beautiful. This routine can be done several times during the week, and I like to make sure to use this duo at night before a photo shoot, or special occasion, so I can look my most vibrant best.

Another tip for super smooth skin, is shaving the peach fuzz off your face before applying moisturizer and makeup. A smooth surface will always provide a smoother finished look. I use those little hair trimmers for women’s facial hair removal. It only takes a couple of minutes, and always makes a big difference.

Physiogel Moisturizers for dry, sensitive skin and Green Goddess CBD Facial Oil to soothe your skin. — Moisturize and Soothe Your Skin

Okay, now that we’re all cleansed, exfoliated, and smoothed, let’s get moisturized and soothed. Your skin is going to love you so much, and reward you with looking super gorgeous!

Now, my evening moisturizing routine is a bit different than my daily for-makeup moisturizing routine. I’ve been using the super luxurious Mission Luxereve line lately. Oh my goodness, you’ll definitely want to try this! I’ve blogged about this recently, but for today, I’m going to share my other favorite skincare line from Avon called Physiogel. If you have dry sensitive skin like me, you are going to fall in love instantly. These formulations are so gentle and soothing, and are great for wearing under makeup. They have different formulations to choose from. Right now I’m using the Physiogel Calming Relief Cream and the Physiogel Daily Moisture Therapy Lotion. The Calming Relief Cream feels so good, and it is a richer formulation than the lotion. Creamier. I love them both and usually will put the cream on my face and use the lotion on my neck and chest area, and then come back up my neck to my face area with it. These are unscented and probably the gentlest facial moisturizers I’ve ever used.

Now, if I happen to have any especially ruddy areas on my face, I use my super hero serum, Green Goddess, called the solution that soothes.

Oh, you know you’ve still got it! And with the help of some wonderful friends, we can still show it!

When I speak of friends, it’s our little makeup helpers that can really make a huge difference in how we present our beautiful selves to the world.

I am doing this before and after makeover series at the age of 56, showing my no makeup natural self, so that I can hopefully encourage you to look and feel your very best, always, no matter your age. Hey, if I can do it, then definitely, so can you!

I will tell you right away before getting started, that I prefer an easy skincare and makeup routine. I do not like to take a million steps to get myself put together and ready to go, so if you’re like me, you may really relate to my particular style of beauty routine and products that provide the coverage I require, perfectly and easily.

I know parts 1 and 2 are backwards, but I didn’t think you’d appreciate looking at me through one complete series without any makeup, so I completed my foundation first then went back to show my skincare products and share my routine.

I just told you that I do not like to take a million steps to put myself together, so I really look for a foundation that has great coverage so that my skin looks flawless and gorgeous in 1 step. Cashmere Complexion does that for me. I normally use the Cashmere Complexion Compact Powder Foundation only, but decided to give the liquid formulation a try, and I really love it. I’m still using the Compact Powder Foundation as well, you’ll see in minute.

I really like the application wand. I just dot it all over (my cleaned and moisturized face – I cover that in Part 2), and then distribute and blend with a dampened sponge.

You can see that it gives me full coverage in just one sweep. My skin tone is evenly balanced. All my ruddiness is eased immediately. This is a very light formula. It doesn’t feel like I have anything on my skin. It’s really beautiful and fresh feeling.

I love this so much! And you know what? I really like using the combination of the Longwear Liquid along with the Compact Powder Foundation as a great finishing touch. This can be worn as a foundation (damp or dry) alone, so it is not flaky or dry, and it has awesome coverage on its own, so hey, super flawless looking skin is a very achievable end result – and very quickly too.

If I’m in an extra big hurry, I just grab my Powder Foundation and give my face a quick once over and I look great to go.

Trying Avon’s New Glimmer Eyeshadow in Vixen + a Little Magix!

Helloo! Who’s ready for a little Glimmer glamour in Vixen, and perhaps a little Magix glow? Yay! Me too, let’s go!

For some reason I’ve really been in the mood for Navy. It’s not a color that I’ve traditionally worn a lot, but I’ve noticed myself leaning more and more towards the dark blue in lieu of black, and I’m loving navy paired with gold. May be my go-to colors this fall. And, with that being said, I knew I wanted to try out Avon’s new fmg Glimmer Eyeshadow Quad in Vixen, which has beautiful shades of (greyish) blue. This will be my 4th fmg eyeshadow quad to try. I’m really enjoying them all.

Someone needs some color, hey? Vixen is perfect for the look I’m going for with the dark gray, steely blues, and silver sparkle. Even though I’m going with gold accessories, the silver will look great as a finishing sparkle highlight on my lids.

I used all the colors in the Vixen palette, including the dark gray as a liner over my pencil liner. I used the lighter blue/gray in my crease area, then used the darker blue over the liner area again and to darken the outer edges of my eyes. I applied the silver glimmer on my lids afterward for an extra highlight of shimmer.

I always love to finish my eye makeup looks with my very favorite mascara, Love at First Lash. It is the best mascara I’ve ever used, and I will continue to use this one always. It has great coverage in one coat, and superb flair with 2. It does not flake, and it washes off easily. There is also a waterproof version, if you’re interested in a waterproof wear mascara.

I promised you some Magix too, right?

Well, here you go! After applying my blush and lipstick, I like to finish my makeup look with some Magix Dust finishing powder. This is made from ground minerals and always gives my skin a really pretty translucent glow. It is available in 3 shades. The shade I use is Translucent Fair – Light, and it looks like you will need to get on a wait list for this shade right now. It’s well worth it. I always receive compliments that my skin looks so flawless and radiant. This loose finishing powder helps blur pores and fine lines without appearing cakey, like an invisible veil.

So, there you have it — My Vixen Magix trick, I mean, look.

To complete my Vixen Magix look, I fixed my hair, and accessorized with jewelry from Avon.

Feeling all put together? I know I’m always trying to, so I thought I’d share a few of my favorite “finishing touches” that I always make sure to apply before heading out the door. Finishes touches are really the key to me feeling like my entire look is complete, both with my makeup and my outfit.

I have on my outfit, and a full face of makeup, but yet I still look “blah”. Time to add the finishing touches! I did apply mascara already (in the above picture) on my right eye, so we’re on our way!

My very favorite mascara is Avon’s Love at 1st Lash (I love the name too!). I get great coverage with one application, and really stand-out lashes with two. I do not curl my eyelashes or wear falsies, but I always get great looking lashes using Love at 1st Lash. I love the brush, it’s a nice size, and the mascara itself is just fabulous, with no flaking. It contains Vitamins A, C and E to condition lashes as you’re wearing it as well. There is also a waterproof version.

Time for lipstick! Lipstick adds a beautiful pop of color. — Now it’s Time for Lips!

Now that my eyes are finished, and I can flutter my lashes at you, I definitely need to get some lips going on! I am using fmg Glimmer Satin Lipstick in the shade Hibiscus for a beautiful pop of color.

I believe I’ve found my new favorite eyeshadow palette.

Hey everyone! How are you doing today? I hope fabulously!

I’m very excited to share my latest Avon makeup finds with you. I really love pinks, purples, and plums. How about you?

I’ve been having so much fun trying out Avon’s new line of eyeshadows called fmg Glimmer Eyeshadows. They come in color curated quads. This is my third one to try, and it’s called Temptress – Rrrarrr….

Along with this new eyeshadow palette, I decided to also try one of Avon’s new VDL Expert Color Primers and a new shade of fmg Glimmer Satin Lipstick.

First up, the VDL Expert Color Primer:

I usually use my foundation as an eyeshadow primer, and it works really well, but since I’ve been wanting to achieve a brighter shimmery look with the new Glimmer Eyeshadow Palettes (they also have mattes and satins in some of them), I was really excited to try one of the new VDL Expert Color Primers. Avon has three versions for whatever type of look you’re going for. There is the Original version, the Serenity version, and the Shimmer version. I bet you can guess which one I opted for. 🙂 Shimmer of course!

Here is a brief description of what each version is used for:

A SHADE FOR EVERY LOOK
• Shimmer – Great alone or to give your shadow extra oomph.
• Serenity – Great for matte shadows or to brighten dull eyes.
• Original – Great for your everyday basic makeup routine.

It only takes a small amount. I dabbed a bit on my eyelids with the wand (I worked on each eye separately), then used my finger to smooth it across my lid and up towards my crease area. I didn’t go all the way up to my brows. You can cover your entire eye area if you wish, I only wanted the shimmer about 2/3’s the way up. I let it dry for a couple of minutes and then I was ready to apply eyeshadow. It sets in place very well. I photographed myself (above pic) with one eye primed and one without. Hopefully you can see the difference. It gives a slight tint with a shimmery finish. I really like it! My shimmery eyeshadow shades go on much easier, the colors pop very well, and they blend wonderfully. It’s thanks to the quality of the new eyeshadow palettes too, but after trying two of the fmg Glimmer Eyeshadow Palettes previously, I can tell that the shimmers go on much better using the primer.

I suppose you can guess from the smile on my face that I’m loving this! But before we begin, a disclaimer. Avon does not market their famous Skin So Soft Original line as an insect repellent. They do however, have a Skin So Soft Bug Guard line that is also very popular.

Okay, now, between you and I, we all know that Avon’s Original Skin So Soft has been used for decades as an insect (especially mosquito) repellent. I remember using it back in the 80’s.

Well, since it’s been a minute since I’ve used this, and with Avon celebrating 60 years of Skin So Soft this year (I know, wow!), I thought I’d give it another try. My husband, Willie, and I have been enjoying playing croquet in our back yard quite a bit since Spring, but lately it’s been getting very uncomfortable going outside for even a few minutes to check on our little patio garden (we’re immediately swarmed). So I thought let’s give Skin So Soft a try again and see how/if it helps.

Well, I’ll tell you, I did not receive even one bite… I was wearing shorts, so I used this Gelled Body Oil on my legs and my arms, and I did not even see any mosquitos land on me. I saw a couple of other tiny bugs that usually bite, but they did not. I stayed comfortable throughout our entire game + we sat and chatted outside very comfortably afterward. Now, Willie did say he received 1 bite on the back of his leg. I applied the Gelled Body Oil to his arms but not to his legs, so I do not know how well he applied it. But still, only 1 bite the entire time is not bad at all.

And, I know you’re probably wondering, “Gelled Body Oil?”. Yep! This stuff is fabulous! I only noticed it when the spray pump bottle was no longer available due to Avon making some changes to some products (hopefully that will come back soon), but I really love this even better than the spray.

It’s just like a gelled hand sanitizer, but not runny, it’s a nice gel that stays put in your hand. I just rub my hands together and then rub it on my skin. It is not overly oily at all. It goes into my skin very well with no sticky residue, and it smells really good. Kind of an herbal/woodsy aroma. And I believe that may be it’s secret. The aroma. There are some aromas that help camouflage us from mosquitos like Citronella and Rosemary, and I personally believe it’s Skin So Soft’s aroma that is the key. Although… it did protect me from those little gnats and tiny biting bugs too, so I don’t know, except that it really works!

And bonus — it is a body oil. It makes my skin look and feel really great. It does not contain an SPF, so be aware of that. I wore it outdoors in the evening. A couple of Avon’s Skin So Soft Bug Guard deet-free products do contain an SPF for bright sunny outdoor days.

So, Avon’s got you covered (literally) whichever way you choose to go, bug repellent wise. We can all now enjoy the outdoors in comfort and joy.

You can find the liquid body oil, body lotion, and lip balm. I’ve also been using my Gelled Body Oil after my bath or shower in the evening. It helps keep my skin very soft as well as keeps me protected from any mosquitoes or biting bugs that may have gotten inside. Great hint!

I’ve been hearing of people using the liquid body oil to spray around windows and doorways to keep pests out. I may need to give that a try too. Let me know if you do and how it works for you.

Hello my beautiful friends! Jfay here, from my makeup studio, getting in the groove for Spring! How about you? Getting Spring Fever and ready for some fabulous adventures? I know I am!

And when I’m ready to head out for fun adventures, I certainly do not want to be taking all day to put my face together. I like to look fabulous without having to take take a million steps or use a ton of product. I’m sure you most likely feel the same way.

That’s why I keep singing the praises of my very favorite foundation that simplifies my beauty routine tremendously. For me it’s like a concealer, primer, color corrector, foundation, and powder all in one convenient compact. It’s Avon’s new FMG Cashmere Complexion Compact Powder Foundation.

The formulation is just about magical. You can use it damp or dry. I usually do both, but either way, it always helps me look so much better.

Here’s how my flawless skin look starts out:

Not so flawless looking. I have quite a bit of unevenness and redness, but not for long! I already began applying my foundation to one side of my face here with a damp sponge. This compact comes with it’s own awesome sponge, and I use that for my dry application.

You can see as I’m applying this under my eye how it’s covering up the redness.

I use this powder foundation on my eyelid area as well. It’s great as a primer. This is literally the only product that I use on my face to achieve flawless looking skin. I have shown you the Cashmere Complexion Concealer that I have used as well, but most days I do not have to use that at all with this powder foundation. It evens my skin-tone, the redness is gone, my eyelids are primed for eyeshadow, I just love it!

Looking better already! I’m now going over my face with the dry sponge that comes with the compact. I sometimes wait to do this till after I’ve applied the rest of my makeup to clean up any eyeshadow spillage or tone down my blush.

But you can see that my skin looks much more even now after applying the powder foundation with my slightly damp sponge. It is not cakey at all and to me looks very natural. There is a great color chart to follow to find your perfect shade – You can find it here (Just click on the color chart pictures to enlarge them). My shade is C110 Cool/Light with rosy undertone. It’s also known as Shortcake!
