I really get the acai berry and plum, so that’s most likely why it smells deep pink to me.

Haiku Perfume Poetry: Beautiful Japanese Garden Fragrance

So beautiful… So tranquil… What a way to begin the new year.

How are you all doing? I hope you’re looking forward to a fabulous 2022.

I’ve began my 2022 enjoying the lovely fragrance of Haiku. I’ve actually been wearing this every day since it arrived, which is quite something for me. If you’ve been following my posts here for any length of time then you’ll know that I did not wear fragrance for a while after my candle making and perfumery days. I became overly sensitive to aromas and had to lay off for quite some time, and now I am very selective in what I enjoy experiencing scent-wise, and I’m especially cautious in which aromas I choose to wear. I mainly lean towards warm, vanilla-type aromas as they seem to be easier on the nose than florals, but — and this is really something — Avon has surprised me over and over now with their new perfumes. They are so well done. So expertly blended. And I know they are using only the very best fragrance oils because they are absolutely beautiful to enjoy. This has been my experience thus far with all the new aromas that I have tried, and Haiku certainly is on the top of my list right now for a very enjoyable fragrance.

I reviewed Haiku Sacred a while back. I really love that version as well. They are both very different from one another.

If you love a fresh floral then you will love this original Haiku.

Haiku Perfume from Avon ingredients list. — Haiku from Avon

Japanese Yuzu is a traditional Japanese citrus fruit with an aromatic zest. You really get that in the top note. It’s beautiful but not overbearing on the citrus. Delicate Muguet (pronounced moo-gay) is French for Lily of the Valley. It’s a soft, delicate (as described) floral. Very easy on the nose. And Blonde Woods is an aromatic note meant to give you the soft sensuous feeling of cashmere. So, imagine all that blended together in one, and each note releasing itself to finish with a soft sensuality. Brilliant!

Which, I looked up the meaning of Haiku, and according to readpoetry.com, Haikus are Japanese poems that focus on a brief moment in time, juxtaposing two images, and creating a sudden sense of enlightenment. So, I suppose Avon’s name for this fabulous perfume (and perfume line) is really spot on. The aromas are like poetry in motion.

You can enjoy Haiku in several different forms. I am enjoying this fragrance in Spray and Deodorant form. Isn’t it cool to be able to match your deodorant with your perfume? I like to spray the perfume into the air and walk into it. It gives me a very nice, light, aroma that makes me feel beautiful.

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you enjoyed a fabulous weekend!

Today I bring an offering of wonderful aroma with Avon’s Haiku Sacred Intense Eau de Parfum.

I received a bottle of this in a recent Avon gift, and I was very excited to give it a try. Avon just recently launched their new Intense line of Haiku fragrances, and they all sound very intriguing.

I didn’t know what to expect with this gorgeous purple bottle. I suppose some type of “purple” floral. But, I was quite surprised. The aroma does not smell “purple” in the least. It is a beautiful blend of Rose de Mai (I looked this up, and Rose de Mai is a hybrid rose developed by Dutch breeders sometime between the 17th and 19th century (or earlier), according to Wikipedia. Hm! Learn something new every day!), uplifting tangerine, and earthy driftwood (balancing the beauty of nature, according to Avon).

I have to tell you — I really like it. It does not scream rose perfume or tangerine, but I get those notes + the slight earthiness, but most of all it is very fresh. Not heavy. I have mentioned to you before that I am a former perfumer and my nose is quite sensitive to smell. Aromas affect me in different ways – sometimes very positive, and sometimes not so much, and I sometimes have a more difficult time with florals, so I went in easily. But I must say that I can actually wear this without any upset, and actually, over the past few days I’ve found myself wanting to wear it. It is really pretty, and although the name says Intense, it really is not overpowering. I put on a gentle spray and rub my arms together slightly, and it’s very nice. I wouldn’t spray this all over, then it may become “Intense” :), unless that’s what you desire, then go for it!

You’re not going to believe what this perfume reminds me of. The first time I wore this, the very first thing that I thought of, and I know that you’re probably going to say that I’m silly, this is not a “professional” description, but I am going to say my honest opinion and what it reminds me of — You know that aroma you get when you open one of those fancy fashion magazines and they have a perfume sample inside the pages? You get a waft of beautiful aroma, and think, oh my goodness, that smells good, and I bet it’s very expensive. You know what I mean? That’s what it reminds me of! I feel like a fashion model wearing this. Super Star Jfay! Yay!

So, in my opinion, this one is a keeper. I most likely would not have ever experienced this lovely aroma had it not been for Avon graciously gifting it to me in my Ambassador gift collection. So THANK YOU Avon. I really love it, and will continue to wear this. I’m really surprised. I’m not usually a “rose” fragrance fan, but this is the second Avon product that I really love the aroma of, that has rose as an ingredient. The other is my Black Rose Body Scrub and Cleanser. That has a totally different aroma, and is really really pretty.

**Seasonal Candles arriving in Campaign 19!**

Hello everyone! Hope you’re doing fabulously!

It’s so exciting with Fall being right around the corner – Yay! It’s definitely one of my favorite times of year. I love smells, the crispness in the air – it’s just all kind of magical…

And speaking of smells in the air… I’m here to give you an inside peek preview at what delicious and delightful Autumn scents are arriving just next campaign for you!

Let’s begin with candles — glorious candles! If you’ve followed me for a bit you’ll know that I am a huge candle lover as well as an ex artistic candle maker. I loved making unique aroma blends. That was one of my most sought after designs for people – to have me make a unique aroma blend for them. So, I do enjoy a gorgeous scent blend, that is for sure.

And I will tell you that I have been very impressed with the Avon candles that I have tried thus far, and certainly look forward to trying these very tempting Autumn themed candles.

I can tell you as a candle maker, the raw materials utilized make all the difference in the world. If you begin with inferior wax or fragrance oils, then you cannot achieve an awesome product, but with superior materials – you achieve a superior product. Makes perfect and easy sense – or scents!

And let’s get on with the scents, shall we? We know they’re going to smell fabulous, it’s just going to be tough to choose…

Creamy Vanilla Frosting Candle – Ohhhh…. they know my weaknesses! Haha! I’m a vanilla fiend! How about you? And this one has notes of vanilla frosting, sweet cupcake and creamy caramel. Get OUT!

Autumn Stroll Candle – This one’s description says – Breathe in the cool Autumn air with notes of crisp apple, red maple leaf and honeyed acorn. Sounds wonderful!

Fall for Berries Candle – Like a long walk in the woods, explore notes of cranberry, pink currant and crushed cassis. Berry is always a very pleasant aroma this time of year.

Spiced Apple Cider Candle – Now this screams Fall, don’t you think? It says, Welcome Fall with notes of apple cider, cinnamon and star anise. The perfect Fall scent combo!

Maple Pumpkin Pancakes Candle – This one has me intrigued for sure – It says, Let’s go pumpkin picking! Start your day with notes of golden pumpkin, buttermilk and maple syrup. That’s so unique and sounds really yummy. This aroma is available both in a jar as a 3 wick candle and also in a cute little ceramic pumpkin. You’ll get more burn time with the jar, but the ceramic pumpkin is just too cute for your Autumn decor.

Now, how about some fragrance for you to wear?

**New Autumn Berry Twist Fragrance** **Collection**

This smells really really good! How do I know? See that pink circle area? That’s a rub and smell patch! Yes, I’ve been taking pictures of my What’s New Book (preview book for Representatives) and giving you an inside view. This particular Campaign 19 preview book was just so exciting to me with all the Autumn previews that I had to share.

Avon Pressed Powder and Velvet

Avon True Color Flawless Mattifying Pressed Powder

One thing that I’ve always loved and that I still always have to have is my face powder. No matter what look I’m going for, soft, diva, or even Halloween, I must finish my look with powder or I do not feel complete.

Avon’s True Color Flawless Mattifying Pressed Powder is super fabulous, and was a marvelous find for me. The face powder that I’ve used in the past is really good, but can go on quite heavy (especially when using a new compact), but the Avon Pressed Powder goes on much more lightly. I still get great coverage, but it’s a lot less heavy, so therefore does not add age to my face. My face feels really good after applying and looks smooth and matte. — So fabulous! The sponge is light as well and curves easily to the contour of my nose and face.

My shade of choice is Neutral. It’s 3rd down on the color scale. There are 10 shades to choose from, so pretty much a shade for everyone! The benefits of this product are that it does not cake (yes, it is lighter), it has skin matching pigments, it is a sheer to medium coverage powder, it’s comfortable to wear and it eliminates shine. Yes — I agree with all the benefit statements!

And now I’d like to talk to you about Avon’s new Velvet Perfume. Oh wow…. Color me super impressed… This perfume is so beautiful. And it does remind me of Velvet.

Avon describes Velvet as a top quality Parfum that is lush, warm and decadent. This is a very accurate description.

I was a candle maker, custom scent blender, and perfumer for over 9 years, so I suppose I do have a “nose” for fragrances, and my nose is very happy with this fragrance. This aroma really does remind me of a perfume that I would blend. It is unique and truly a scent-sational journey. The scent journey first begins with fig and pomegranate from the Mediterranean as the top note, then the middle note of rose from Bulgaria, and lastly, velvet patchouli from Java.

The bottle is so beautiful too, and it’s topped with a velvet cap, so you know you’re in for a decadent experience.

Let me tell you, this Avon Senses Silky Vanilla Body Spray is too yummy. It is not heavy or overpowering in any way. When I first tried it, it reminded me of vanilla extract – I got a hint of liqueur – that definitely must be the brown sugar. It just smells so delicious. It stays softly upon the skin, giving you a nice hint of delish. I cannot wait to spray it on after my bath/shower. It makes me feel so pretty, pampered, and happy.

And let me tell you…. this smells FABULOUS!!! It smells quite expensive too. My first reaction was that it reminded me of a Chanel Coco for men. It has a “I want to sniff your neck” kind of effect. It is not harsh on the nose at all – and I was, along with being a candle maker for many years, also a perfumer, and blended many signature aromas for both candles and fragrances, so I was completely blown away by the delicate blending of the ingredients listed in this formula. That’s what caught my attention right away, was the list of scents that went into the making of True Gent.

The list includes: Laurel Leaf, Bergamot, Tonka Bean, Creamy Musk, Smooth Tobacco, and Vanilla Suede. What a combo! What a scent! It’s hard for me to put it in words… But every note, from the beginning, to middle, to end, is just wonderful. It ends on a very soft and smooth note, which I pick up at the very beginning as well, I believe this must be the Vanilla Suede – it’s both soft and masculine. Avon describes True Gent as “a masculine scent that is sensitive yet strong.” I totally agree.
